Staring at the text feels.. strange, for more reasons than one. There's the big elephant in the room of Gorgug suddenly having disappeared from this place, sure, but there's also the thought of someone just.. checking in on him?
It feels weird. Fabian isn't used to it. For a bit he doesn't even know how to respond, and it means that hours and hours go by before Loki will finally find a response to the text being sent to him. ]
i don't really need anything
[ .. okay, that doesn't really feel good to send back. Not only that, anyway. Loki is checking in on him, and that's-- uh. Weird? Nice? Fabian isn't sure yet. ]
[If he's honest, Loki isn't even sure if he's expecting a response. He's hoping for one for sure. He's worried about Fabian. Loki knows what it's like to lose someone you care for deeply. He worries about it daily now that he has Hob, though he tries not to let it bother him too much. Loki doesn't want to let those kinds of intrusive thoughts ruin his enjoyment of the moment.
But it can be rather difficult sometimes. Right now being one of those times. It isn't just that Loki can identify with losing someone, but also that he has lost someone as well. He considered Gorgug a good friend and he will miss seeing him around.
Loki has pretty much accepted that Fabian is not going to message him back when his device pings. He frowns as he reads the first message. It doesn't ease when he gets the second. It really has nothing to do with what Loki wants. He's asking what Fabian wants, but he knows the younger man well enough to know that things are not so straight-forward with him.]
I am available if that is something you wish. I do not want to intrude if you prefer to grieve alone. But I would like to make sure you are alright.
[ There's a slight moment between replies. Mostly because Fabian has to stare at that last line with a baffled expression on his face. What does that even mean? Loki doesn't want the same thing to happen to him? Is that a thing people express???
He snaps himself out of it enough to send back: ]
no one told me it i just know it because i am smart i have never seen anyone around me miss someone else it's not something people do
[Loki has no idea if that's something people express, but it's something he expresses. He's come too far and changed too much not to try and pass on everything he's learned. Besides, he actually likes Fabian and wants him to know he'll be there if he needs or wants.]
This has very little to do with intelligence. And I can say that I miss people, so someone around you very much has. And I know I am not the only one. I understand not wanting to speak about it, but if by any chance you do, at any time, I am available.
[ Baffled. It's not even Fabian pretending to try and seem tough - not when it comes to this, anyway. He seems genuinely surprised people missing other people is.. something that happens, apparently. Somehow. ]
I do, yes. Do you not? When I cannot see someone I have enjoyed spending time with, knowing I cannot speak with them as I wish to? Yes, I miss lots of people actually.
Have you never wished to see or speak with someone you have not in a long time?
[Loki has met all sorts of people, and seen many more. He has never met anyone who has never missed someone before.]

[ The message comes a little more quickly this time. Almost too quickly. ]

[Loki is pretty sure that even through text, Fabian will pick up that he doesn't believe him.]
You know, it isn't anything to be ashamed of. It is rather normal to be sad when you miss someone you care about.

who told you that it's normal???

I used to think like that. It got me nowhere good. I do not want the same thing to happen to you.
